Difference between Shrewsbury and Weimar

While being in England, more precisely Shrewsbury, for almost a whole week we noticed a few significant differences between Weimar and Shrewsbury. Especially with regard to the daily school life.

So what is that different and unusual for us?

While being there in school at Shrewsbury High School we noticed some differences, that were sometime quite interesting to us. For instance the connection between the teachers and their students. I seemed way closer, invested and personal to us, than we are used to at our school. Another thing that shocked us a little bit was that the students there have way less subjects than we do. Most of them have about 9 classes, but atop more on the way until they only have about 3 subjects in sixth form. But also the subjects themselves are so much different than ours. They have more variation and creativity imbedded in their time tables. Another thing is the school building — students have their own library, rooms or lounges to relax and have a break in. A big difference is also visible from the outside, because there is a huge field behind their school, that they use for sports. And if they are tired of teaching inside, they even have a little classroom in the yard as well. If you thought that was the most interesting part you are to be surprised — The Shrewsbury Highschool isn’t just one singular building, that the students learn in… no, it’s  actually 3 to 4 buildings, each of them for one department (Sciences, human sciences, languages…)
